1933. Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts), a vaudeville actress, struggling to support themselves, like many other Americans during the Great Depression. She walks the streets of Manhattan looking into the possibility of working in a cabaret, until hunger makes stealing an apple. Ann is saved by filmmaker Carl Denham (Jack Black) who offers her the lead role in his next production. Initially hesitant, Ann accepts the offer after learning that the writer is the renowned playwright Jack Driscoll (Adrien Brody). In fact Carl is in trouble, since the sponsorship to complete his unfinished film was canceled and its former leading lady abandoned the project. Despite the problems, the team embarks Carl and the cast of his film in chartered freighter SS Venture. The purpose of the trip is to arrive on Skull Island, which is reputed to house a lost race and many considered extinct creatures. Edit
