Matilda Wormwood (Mara Wilson) is a bright child of six, who grew up amid the rude and ignorant parents. Her father Harry (Danny DeVito) works as a car salesman, while his mother Zinnia (Rhea Perlman) is a homemaker. Both ignore the child, to the point of forgetting to enroll her in school. Thus Matilda is always at home or at the bookstore, where he usually stimulate your imagination. After a series of strange events at home, when Matilda discovers she possesses magical powers, Harry decides to send her to school.
